Marathon Training Day #102: Back to the track

track

Oh no, I’m a few days behind on blogging! Must catch up!

On Thursday I had my first repeat workout in a while. I was hoping that by the time I got back from New Orleans, the weather in Toronto would have cleared up and I could run on an outside track. This was not the case. I chose to go to the Monarch Park stadium for what I hope is the last time of this running season.

The plan:  2k warm-up, 6×600 repeats, 2k cooldown.

I won’t lie: when I’m on the track, I cheat on the warm-up and cool-down a bit. Running in a circle is boooooooring. When I felt ready, I hit the track as hard as I could. My splits:

2:39
2:42
2:39
2:46
2:45
2:44

Err…not the most consistent. And these puppies were HARD. I think it’s because I still don’t have full lung capacity back (I’m still full of snot. It’s disgusting.), but it could also be because it’s been nearly a month since I last did repeats like this. Either way, I’m glad this is over.

    Hey Erin!

That’s a sweet track! Is it very expensive? Congrats on all the running you did while In New Orleans! I don’t know if I would have that much willpower…..

      Hey AM!

The track is $8 for a drop-in visit. They have weekly and monthly passes too, but I’m not sure what they cost.

As for running on vacation, I’ve really come to love it. It’s a good way to kick off your day and develop a routine while away.
