It poured yesterday. Absolutely poured. So I stayed in, choosing to believe that avoiding risking getting sick was more important than getting in 5k. The Leafs won, the Jays lost and I spent the night grumpy and antsy. My legs wanted to run. It was a weird feeling.
In light of not having another amazing run recap for you, I have decided to terrify you with my choice of first-ever marathon. Blue Nose is a hilly mother. Here is proof:
This makes Around the Bay look flat.
The course is also ridiculous:
I have to run out past Dartmouth, come back and then zig-zag through Halifax proper until I hit 42.2. And it’s small. According to SportStats, only 260 people ran the full marathon last year, with an average finishing time of 4:21:11. I am going to be ALONE for a lot of this race, aren’t I?
That said, I get to run through two parks!! Two! So there’s that. And the second half of the race is pretty much the same as the half marathon. So I think as long as I get through the first 21.1k, I’ll be home free.
I hope.
