NYC Marathon Training Week #2 – Saturday

I let myself sleep in this morning and then used the excuse “it’s too hot to run” to put it off as long as possible. I know what a terrible idea this is, but I can’t seem to stop doing it. One day…

I finally needed to run, before the baseball and the rain and I ate too much. So I did. 30 minute “moderate” tempo. I wanted to keep my pace in the 5:XX range, with XX being based solely on how I felt. It started out okay, but I went out too fast and faded quickly. I needed to walk about 15 minutes in, which was probably more of a failure of my mental strength than my physical one. But I got it done: 5.17k in 30:00, average 5:49 pace. It could have been faster, it could have been more consistent. Lessons for next time.

I also finished Friendship by Emily Gould today, and while I didn’t like it all that much, it gave me FEELINGS. Has anyone else read it? What did you think?
